Lady Wildcats Youthfulness To Showcase In 2021-2022

Kalida-The Kalida Ladycats are coming off a regular season that saw them finish 17-7 and a trip to the district finals before running into conference foe Columbus Grove that put a bow on another successful season for the Lady Cats.

Kalida will look to replace Grace Klausing who led the team in scoring as the first team PCL and district eight honoree averaged 14 point per game along with six rebounds a game. The Ladycats are led this year by Brooke Vonnekotter as the 5’9 wing averaged 6.3 points a game and Amanda Unverth as the lone seniors on the roster.

“What I like about this group overall is that we have 16 total players that are invested in the team and working to get better everyday,” said Kalida Head Coach Adam Huber. “There is a lot of talent on our roster but a lot of it is young and unproven at the varsity level,” said Huber.

The youthful Wildcats will count on four sophomores as well as five freshmen to play some big minutes for the squad. Kalida will look to contend in the tough PCL conference that will have multiple teams vying for the top spot.

“The PCL is once again going to be a competitive league where you must be ready to play each game,” said Huber.

Kalida is slated to begin their season on November 23rd when they hosts the St.Mary’s Roughriders. The first conference game will take place on December 11th when they hosts Fort Jennings.
