Spencerville Grapplers Reload For Championship Contention

SPENCERVILLE-The Bearcat grapplers had one of their best seasons in 2020-2021 as they finished third in the northwest conference with a 9-2 record.Fifth year head coach Jon Brewer will have some pieces back as the Bearcats will look to contend in the 2021-2022 season.

Spencerville will have three returning district qualifiers as Carder Miller comes back in the 126 weight class after a 30-12 record a year ago.Trey Hunter and Maddox Jurek will return after having appearances in the district tournament as they will represent the 120 and 165 weight class respectively.

What will also return as 13 different lettermen will look to crack their way into the lineup this season. Leading the returning letterman will be Nyah Hodge-Miller as he was a 2020 district qualifier in the 113 weight after finishing the season with a record of 20-12.

The roster will load a lot of new promising newcomers to compliment the roster. Ethan Martinez and Ryder Robey comes in as freshman after winning the junior high northwest conference championship as Martinez won it in the 106 pound weight class while Robey won it in the heavyweight division.

Spencerville will get their season underway on December 11th when they travel to Lincolnview for an invitational meet.
