PERRY-Jefferson rolled into Perry high school on Monday night, as they looked to improve on their impressive 7-0 record on the season. The Wildcats used balanced scoring, and played great defense as they defeated Perry 61-14.
“I thought we played hard tonight,and I am very proud of the girls tonight,” said Jefferson head coach Denise Lindeman. “I thought we played well defensively and we executed on offense tonight ,” continued Lindeman.
Jefferson began the game on a 12-0 scoring run as the visitors had things going from downtown as Lyv Lindeman buried two of them to give them a quick 6-0 lead that forced a Commodore timeout. The visitors were far from done in the quarter as Alycia Lindeman went to work, as she scored the next seven points to extend the lead to 13-0. Perry responded with a basket with 2:32 remaining in the quarter but five straight points from Hannah Wiltsie and a bucket from Josie McGue gave them a 20-2 as the Wildcats led 20-4 after 8:00 of action.
The Wildcats outscored the hosts 17-2 in the second quarter but it was Lauren French that put the game out of reach. French scored five straight points as the visitors led by 21, at 25-4, and she later added a bucket that gave her six points for the quarter. Jefferson balanced out the scoring in the quarter with three points from Lyv Lindeman as her points extended the lead to 28, at 32-4.
Following a Commodore basket, the visitors continued the impressive first half with baskets from Alycia Lindeman and French as the visitors led 36-4 at halftime.
Most of the second half was played under a running clock, as the visitors played all 12 girls on the varsity roster. The visitors outscored Perry 15-3 in the third quarter, and 9-5 in the final quarter to pick up the 61-14 victory. Alycia Lindeman led all scorers with 13pts as Jefferson improved to 8-0 on the season.
Jefferson will be back in action on Thursday, when they host Allen East in NWC play.
“We will enjoy the win tonight, and tomorrow we will start working on Allen East,” Lindeman concluded.
