Northwest Conference 

The Conference that I have gotten to know is the NWC. You look at some good teams in this group. Spencerville took home the Boys crown last year and the Jefferson lady Wildcats will look to win the conference for a fourth year in a row.

Ada: It was an experienced team for Vince Holliday a year ago that featured 10 seniors. However Holliday will look to lean on Brody Erickson and Carson Gossard to lead the young club in their final year in the NWC.

Lady Bulldogs Record in 2022-2023:11-12

Courtney Sumner has graduated from the Bulldogs but this year roster will have four seniors for second year coach Zach Ricker. Six freshmen saw the floor last season so this year should be better for the Bulldogs.

Allen East 

Fourth year head coach Gabe Young saw his team have a winning season and has some key returnees back from 2022-2023. Carson Clum returns for his final season along with Trey Hensley and Donny Kennedy. Juniors Ethan Young and Braelyn Schultz will also add to the experience.

Lady Mustangs

The Lady Mustangs made some noise in 2022-2023 by going 17-7 and winning a sectional championship. Third year coach Aaron Montgomery will rely on senior Savannah Brooks who received all NWC honors a season ago. Aubrey Young also returns for her senior season and juniors Rilynn Jones and Taylor Nickles will be a vocal point of the experience.

The Pirates last season was strong as they finished 16-9 and a district semifinalist. 18th year head coach Todd Boblitt returns 9/10 from a year ago including Carson Soper, Marek Donaldson, Kaden Lora, Terron Boblitt and Spencerville transfer Blake Sommers. 

Record in 2022-2023:16-9 lost to OG in districts.

Columbus Grove 

Connor Kohls will take over the reigns from Chris Sautter as the new bench boss for the Bulldogs. It was a struggle for Grove last year as they finished 7-15 but will return all players from last season. Bo Birnesser is back and healthy from a full year of activities along with Zach Reynolds, Tadd Koch, Landon Best, and Trenton Barraza among others.

The standard is the standard for Columbus Grove following a 18-9 season that featured another trip to the regional tournament and more Lauren Auchmuty. The junior will be a vocal point from a team that features 6 players black from the 10 girls on the roster from last season.

Crestview

Fresh off a state final appearance last winter head coach Doug Etzler will look to reload the Knights in 2023-2024. Wren Sheets is the lone starter that returns from the final four team. Tommy Heffner, Kellin Putnam, Isaac Kline, and Jaret Harting are expected to step up for the young Knights this winter.

After another successful trip to Regionals last season eight year head coach Mark Gregory will look to lead his Knights to another successful season. It will be led by St.Francis signee Cali Gregory and Kacey Gregory the duo will be on the first time at the varsity level.

It will be a young team for eight years head coach Jordan Jettinghoff as just five players return from last season and just two of them saw time at the varsity level. Isaac Gallmeier and Karder Agner return from experience last season to help lead the Wildcats this season.

Lady Wildcats 

Fresh off the third straight NWC crown the lady Wildcats look to be the team to beat in the NWC. Tiffin signee Lyv Lindeman and Lauren French bring the 1-2 duo in their final season as a Wildcat and Kyrstin Moore also joins them as a senior. Look for the Wildcats to try to build depth as they graduated three seniors a year ago.

The Lancers have been on a downward spiral the last couple of seasons but twelve year head coach hopes to turn it back around this season. Five seniors return for Lincolnview that includes Cal Evans, Austin Bockrath, and Reide Jackson are expected to provide a boost for the Lancers this season.

Fifth yeah head coach Kyle Williams will look to see some upside from his veteran Lancer squad this winter. After graduating only two seniors a year ago the Lancers reload with one senior, two juniors, and six sophomores. Addysen Stevens comes back for senior season while Emerson Walker, and Ashlyn Price return for their junior year.

Spencerville 

After winning the outright NWC Championship last season Kevin Sensabaugh will look to lead his team to back to back NWC crowns. Evan Osting, Carter Sudhoff, Carder Orr, and Owen Sensabaugh return after successful seasons last year. Blake and Brody Sommers transferred to Bluffton and the graduation of third all time leading scorer Josh Henline and Dylan Smith Will challenge the depth of the Bearcats this season. Look for freshman Will Sensabaugh to crack the varsity lineup this winter.

Greg Ekis is in his tenth year of being the head coach of the Lady Bearcats and he hopes to get his team back into NWC contention. Heidi Keller returns for her senior year along with Clara Goecke. Kiarah Dodd, Delanie Bowersock, and Nadia Ricker round out a senior that looks to put a new chapter on Spencerville basketball.
